... pride & prejudice : inspiration for murder ...

megan was just chilling with jayce at a pool bar, having a chillout nite, as opposed to the club scene where her social status takes her. nathan was suppose to meet them there to play a couple of games, and was obviously running late.

just as jayce was about to whip out his phone to call him, nathan walks in with a smooth stride. he was still looking spiffy and sleek, despite just getting off a long day at work.

he was actually breaking out in cold sweat, as it was the day he was gonna make that jump. building up that courage to ask her out. sure, he hardly knew her, but he was deeply attracted and didn't know what to do until he told her his interest.

they played a few games. he eyed her having a laugh with jayce. he could just feel the joyful aura radiating from her. he was unsure if he could provide her that same joy and happiness she gets from her friends and passions..

having crashed his car a couple of weeks back, he asked megan for a lift back. megan was a little sceptical, unsure of his intentions, as she felt his staring vibes from the beginning of the night.

quietly she asks jayce whether nathan was 'safe'. to which he answered, "don't worry, darling, he's not exactly straight." so megan agreed to drop him off.

after a failed attempt to invite her up to his place to check out his magnificent triple story condo and quite obviously a drink, he uttered the words "i'm interested in you, think about it" before jumping out of the car. afraid to be further embarrassed.

megan was shocked and bewildered. having heard him right, she felt warmth in her heart, a feeling which she hasn't had in a long time, and drove home chuckling deliriously to herself. despite her earlier wariness of him, she did feel an attraction for him. her only concern was that jayce thinks that nate was initially interested in him.

a week later..

"you don't have the time of the day for me. how do i know if you're interested in me back? you're constantly out and have to spend time with your friends"

"i told you, my cousins and my friends are back in town and i hardly get to see them. i'm trying to explain that to you. why won't you listen?"

"sorry babe, i'm no longer interested. i suddenly feel that maybe you're not the right girl for me. unless by some miracle you can change my mind"

"well, excuse me.. u've just moved beyond making me upset to being angry"

"who cares.. get lost!"

megan's mobile battery died without a chance of resurrection for the rest of the night. good riddance, she thought. he had hit her boiling point and she was no longer in the position to listen to reason.

finally bringing her phone back to life, she had 6 miss calls and several texts reading: where the hell are you? why have you switched off your phone? ur just nothing. learn to deal with millionaires, we're not normal!

thrown with a slap and an insult to the face, megan replied : you spoilt bastard! my battery was flat out. if you had any more brains left, you could have just called jayce, knowing that i was with him. and i'm not interested in being measured by the value of money.

the next day..

nathan apologised profusely for the blunder he made, even though it could be too late to mend the burnt feelings, megan decided to give it a 2nd chance, and explained to nathan not to rush into matters, that they needed time to get to know each other better and spend sometime together. quite obviously, you can't expect things to just fall into place.

2 days later

"i don't think i can deal with this.. i'm no longer interested in you"

"don't you dare play this mind-fuck game again..."

1 month later

nathan was surprised and ecstatic to see megan walked into the the pool bar. she was going to meet jayce for a few games, as usual. she knew nathan would be there, but she decided to let it pass and just be cool.

nathan caught her hand and pulled her into a hug. telling her, he missed her and was really sorry about not giving them enough time and taking it out on her, that he said what he said to get a reaction from her, hoping that she would show more interest and ask for him back.

megan accepted his apology, but wasn't about to give in to him for the 3rd time.
